The county of Gloucestershire is renowned for the amount of sporting activities within the area and this in itself is a major reason for a visit. People taking holidays here often come for some kind of sporting event and so having somewhere to stay with an outdoors yet comfortable feel is a bonus. Gloucestershire is synonymous with horses and there are a number of classic famous events that attract the crowds to the county. Most villages and towns have a good cricket team and anyone walking through the county will hear the sound of leather on willow most summer afternoons on a weekend. Cyclists will also find a number of good off road trails to explore and some really picturesque routes in and around the county and for most levels of cycling.

A holiday in Gloucestershire is a wonderful way to explore the Cotswolds and apart from traditional sports there are some unusual celebrations. This includes cheese rolling when the population of Brockworth turns out to see some giant cheeses being rolled down Coopers Hill. 

For others the Cotswold Olympics are a fun way of trying the more unusual activities and more interesting traditions such as the World Championships in Shin Kicking. Finishing off the day with a drink at the pub is an excellent way of relaxing and reflecting on an active day out in this beautiful corner of England.
